If you have any tricks or hints you’ve discovered and would like to share them with us, you can send us an message.

Get Cash

Sell fruit, fish, shells, bugs, or other unused stuff to Nook. He’ll only give you 25% of what you paid for the item though.

Sell stuff at the Flea Market (Fourth Sunday of Each Month). You’ll be able to get twice as much as you’d get from Nook. You can’t sell bugs or fish at the Flea Market though.

Maximize your time by not selling cheaper fish. You’re better off throwing it back in the water and fishing for more expensive fish. That way you won’t have to go back and forth between Nook’s and the river/sea so many times.

Maximize your time by not selling cheaper shells. Only pick up White Scallops and Pearl Oysters. They’re the most and expensive. You may also find coconuts wash ashore. Pick them up and plant them near the shore to grow palm trees. Each coconut is worth 500 bells!

Send presents to the villagers in your letters and they’ll send you furniture or different kinds of fruit that are not native to your town. They’re worth 500 bells instead of 100, but if you plant them you’ll have many trees with lots of fruits that are worth 500 bells! You can also get non-native fruits by visiting your friends’ towns via DS to DS connection or WiFi.

Deposit money in your bank account and you’ll earn interest every month. You can also cheat by changing the date and get a lot of money in interest. However, be careful because the town will be full of weeds. If you decide to do it, you might as well do it several times to make it worthwhile.

Shake trees and you’ll find a few bells here and there or even hidden furniture. If the bees come out, they will most likely sting you, but you should try to catch them, as they’re worth 4,500 bells at Nook’s!
When you see “stars” in the ground, use your shovel to dig out a fossil, which you can donate at the museum (for free) or sell it to Nook for big bucks after it’s been identified by Blathers the owl. Sometimes it won’t be a fossil, but you can still sell the Gyroids. Pitfall seeds are worthless though.

You’ll receive money in a letter from your Mom on January 1st – It will contain 10,000 bells.

Fish in late July – early August to catch expensive fish: Hammerhead (8,000 Bells), Napoleanfish (10,000 Bells), Red Snapper (3,000 Bells), and Shark (15,000 Bells).

Fish in Winter to catch expensive fish: Red Snapper (3,000 bells), String Fish (15,000 bells), and Tuna (7,000 bells).

Hit all the rocks in town once a day. One of them will contain money bags. Hit it several times consecutively, and you’ll get more money. You can dig three holes around yourself and the rock so when you hit it you don’t accidentally step back. You have to do this before hitting each rock for the first time though.

Find an Elegant Mushroom in the fall (one per day) and sell it for 12,000 bells.

Change the date to Dec. 24 after 8pm, and find Jingle. He’ll give you a piece of the Jingle set, which you can sell at Nook’s for 12,000 bells.

Once you have the golden shovel, bury money. If you’re lucky, it’ll grow into a money-giving tree.

Bunny Day (Easter): Dig up Bunny Eggs with a shovel. Open them and eat if them if they’re candy. If it’s Bunny Foil, keep it and talk to the Bunny Man in front of the Town Hall. Sell the prizes at Nook’s, save the game, play on a different date, save, and then play on Bunny Day again!

Animal Crossing City Folk Cheat Codes For Furniture

NOTE: If you keep the candy and change the date to the Festivale, you can give the candy to Pave and he will give you furniture. If you get lots of furniture, it is worth lots at Nook’s. (Thanks for the tip, Shanice M.!)

Send fruit to a Neighbor and include the word “Fruit” in the message field. Eventually they’ll send you other fruit or furniture.

Duplicate your Bells(Tip from Kellie A.) If you have 5,000 bells, you get 10,000. The only way to do it is over Wi-Fi connection. Go to your friend’s town and leave your bells outside their gate. Then go and talk to Cooper in the gate and tell him that you want to go home. After he says “Well then… (your name then some other stuff)” you quickly press the home button on your remote and click reset. Then go back on and you should have the same amount of bells in your pocket as before, but the same amount is also in your friend’s town, so go to your friends town and get the money and you’ll have double the amount! You can also duplicate items, fruits, etc. (anything but fish or bugs).

Special Visitors

Blanca: (Random Day) She’s a white cat with no face. She’ll ask you to redraw it, and you can draw her face as many times as you want for that day, until you save and quite. When you first see her, she might be wearing a face someone else from another remote town drew. Some designs can be quite interesting!

Chip: (6am-6pm June-November) He holds a fishing tourney every Sunday during the months of June and November. He’ll give you a prize if you caught the biggest bass that day (so far). At the end of the day, if you were the winner, you’ll receive a prize on the mail.

Franklin: (3pm to 9pm on Thanksgiving) Find him hiding behind trees and buildings. Give him the forks Tortimer gives you at the Town Hall and he’ll give you special “Harvest” furniture. You can repeat this until you have the whole collection.

Gulliver: (6am to 6pm – once a week) This guy is tough to locate, and he will not come if you already saw another special visitor in your town that day. He flies the skies on his UFO. Try to shoot him down – you’ll hear a breaking noise and he’ll disappear. Find the only ship part somewhere in town and keep it until the next day. You’ll see him crashed on the beach. Talk to Gulliver, give him the missing part, and he’ll give you one of his special items.

Jack: (9pm Oct. 31 to 1am Nov. 1) Everyone in town will be dressed up like Jack that day, but you have to find the real Jack. He will not chase you, but you’ll have to give him candy you bought at Nook’s during the month of November. Keep the candy within your letters until you’re sure he’s Jack. If it’s a neighbor you’ll have to give up your candy and they may even turn your clothes into rags or your head into a pumpkin! The real Jack will give you “Spooky” furniture. If you’re persistent, you’ll find the whole collection. Sometimes you have to refuse to give him candy to obtain a rare item from him.

Jingle: (Dec. 24 – 8pm to Dec. 25 – 1am) Find him around town. He could be either outside or inside an empty house while the neighbors go for a walk! Talk to him several times and he’ll give you pieces of the “Jingle” series furniture. Only trick is…you have to change your appearance (umbrellas, hats, wigs, etc. –no shirts/dresses) each time so he doesn’t recognize you! Of course, do this somewhere away from him.

Joan: (Sunday 6am – Noon) Buy turnips from her and sell them to Nook any day of the week except Sundays. The prices vary like the stock market, so you may make extra money or lose some. Also, you can buy red turnips from her, which you can plant for a special surprise. Turnips rot after a week, so sell them before that!

Katie and Kaitlin: (When You Play with Friends via Wi-Fi) This mom and baby will be found when you play with a friend online. The baby cat will be crying because she can’t find her mom. The mom will be all desperate because she can’t find her daughter. The only way to solve this issue is to re-connect with your friend online and reunite these pair of lost souls. Once you do this, you’ll get a present from the mom on the mail. If you don’t re-connect with your friend, the cats will remain in your towns for a week and no other special visitors will come in the meantime.

K.K. Slider (aka Totakeke) (Saturday 8pm to Midnight) Watch him play music at the Rooster cafeteria. He’ll give you a record after the song is done so you can play the music at home. Find the song list at the bottom of the page.

Mr. Resetti: (8pm in the city, or when you don’t save) You should be familiar with him by now, but he shows up every time you forget to save your game before quitting. He’ll be really annoying and will talk and talk, but he still likes you. You’ll figure this out if you to the city after 8pm and look for him on the rightmost side of the screen, after the bus drops you off. He works at the Surveillance Center with his brother. If you’re lucky, he will give you a silver shovel!

Nat: (3rd Saturday in June, July, August, and September) Nat hosts the Bug Catching Contest. He’ll reward you with gifts each time you bring him the rarest bug. Also, he’ll send you the Bug Trophy if you were able to catch the rarest bug that day.

Pascal: (6am-Midnight, on a random day) You may find him near one of the bridges in your town. Give him a regular scallop (not a white one) and he’ll give you rare furniture, wallpaper, or carpet. You can’t obtain these items elsewhere.

Pave the Peacock: (February 23) This visitor likes to organize fun events for the citizens during “Los Festivales.” If you win random events and challenges like “Hide & Seek,” you’ll get colored candy as a reward. You can trade this with Pave for special furniture. The catch is if you give him the same color, you’ll get the same furniture piece, so you have to give him varied colored candy and even combine them.

Pete the Postman: (after 9am or after 5pm on a random day). He’ll just be outside your house after he delivers the mail. He doesn’t give you anything, so don’t expect anything “special” out of this “special” character.

Phineas: (In the city, on Sunny Days) He’s a happy guy you’ll see at the city square on sunny days. He’ll give you a balloon, a pinwheel, or a bubble wand if you talk to him.

Sahara: (6am to 6am – 24 hours on a random day) She trades rare and exotic carpets for an old carpet. This “old carpet” is a specific one you’ll obtain by asking each of your neighbors. If you give her three or more carpets, she’ll give you a rare wallpaper or carpet. If you give her less than three, she’ll just give you a common carpet.

Serena: (6am to 6am – 24 hours on a random day) She’s a fairy that shows up in your town’s fountain. There won’t be a fountain in your town until you donate 700,000 bells to the Town Hall. After the 1st 200,000 bells, a bridge will be built, and after you donate other 500,000, you’ll get the fountain, but you’ll have to talk to Pelly for this to happen. Once it’s there, you can go and throw an axe in the fountain. She’ll show up and ask you a couple of questions. The “correct” answer will be random, so if you get lucky, you’ll get a silver or a golden axe.

Snowman: (Dec. 6 to Mid-February) If you notice small balls of snow in the ground you should roll them around to make them bigger. Find another ball and roll it on top of the other to make a snowman. If he’s well proportioned, he’ll send you special furniture.

Wendell: (6am to Midnight) When you find him, you’ll have the opportunity to give him food. He’ll give you patterns, gyroids, money, or special furniture in exchange.

Wisp: (Stores Closing-4am – only one random day per week) When you hear his whispers, Wisp will materialize and ask you to find his lost lamp. Find it (can’t be one you purchase) and run to your house’s attic. Wisp will grant you a wish: removing all your cockroaches, picking all the weeds, or receiving an item.

Zipper T-Bunny: (April 14) He will hide eggs all over town and you will have to dig them out with the shovel. Eggs are often hidden around houses and trees, but there won’t be a mark so you can see where they’re buried, so you’ll have to try to guess. When you find them, eat the candy and trade the bunny foil with Zipper for special furniture.

Other Hints and Secrets

Use the DS suitcase mode to transfer your character to the Wii game and all the objects you unlocked in the DS version will be available for purchase in Nook’s catalog on the Wii version.

Present Balloons will be seen every day at 10:05am, 10:15 am, 10:25 am, 10:35 am, 10:45 am, 10:55 am, 3:05pm, 3:15pm, 3:25pm, 3:35pm, 3:45pm, and 3:55pm. Run North and shoot them. When you shoot eight, the Golden Slingshot will randomly appear on another flying balloon. The Golden Slingshot shoots three pellets.

Alternate Shoe Color:
In the city, you’ll find Kicks the Skunk. Ask him to shine your shoes to make them match your clothes. If you ask him to change the style, he’ll return them to their original look.

Zap Suit Changes Background Music
Wear one of the Zap Suits and you’ll hear a different background tune.

Valentine’s Day Cocoa
Visit the Roost Café on Feb. 14th. Order a coffee and Brewster will surprise you with a hot cocoa and will wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day.

New Message Sign
Look for the yellow canary perching on top of the Message Board. If he’s there, it means you have an unread message.

Hidden Stuff in Rocks
If a neighbor is looking at a rock, there might be something in it. Hit it with a shovel and something will come out of it, possibly a Pill Bug.

Free Furniture
Go to the Town Hall and open the recycling container. It may have furniture or other cool stuff. You can also go to the Gate and talk to Booker (dog on the left) to see if he has any objects in the “Lost & Found.”

Keep the Neighbors at Home
If you have trouble finding neighbors when you need them, just go to the gate, ask Copper to establish a connection so you can have visitors, and then every neighbor will be home. Don’t forget to close the gate when you’re done so you don’t use too much battery!

Make your Neighbors Angry
Walk into the neighbors and push them around or hit them with the shovel or bug net. They’ll become mad and steam will come out of their heads.

Cure Bee Stings without Medicine
If you get stung and don’t want to spend money on medicine or the store is closed, simply go to your attic and sleep, save the game, and restart it. When it reloads, your face will be perfect again!

Nature’s Punishment
Play your game at least once a week, or the next time you go back to it, the town will be full of weeds and your flowers may be gone or dying. Same thing will happen if you start cheating by changing the date radically.

Crazy Redd’s Underground Store: Redd now has a shop in the city where he sells furniture and sometimes rare items. Careful with his prices though! Oftentimes he’s more expensive than Nook. He also sells paintings, sometimes original and sometimes counterfeit.

Finding out if a Painting is a Counterfeit (Before you Buy)
Walk towards the item and press A. Crazy Redd will tell you the price.

The item is a fake if there’s a thought bubble over his head and he says one of the following things:
“It’s a very nice item” / “It took ol’ Redd a long time to get his hands on that!” / “It took a lot of wheeling and dealing” / “When it comes to items for Crazy Redd’s family, I won’t stop ’til I get it!” / “I’m gonna offer it to you for only — Bells!”

If the item is very cheap, it’s probably fake too.

Finding out if a Painting is a Counterfeit (After you Buy)
Once you buy a painting, you can go to Nook’s and see if the painting you bought is part of the catalog. If it’s not, then it’s a forgery and you should sell it to Nook instead of having Blathers appraise it (lowers the price). If it is on the catalog, then it’s an original and you can go donate it at the museum.

To Get a Special Job in the City(Tip from Oscar P. from the U.K.)
Go to Crazy Red and get the mare paper. Then write a extremely long letter to the mayor about how much you like him, then go cut down every tree in the town. After that, send money to 5 people and another letter to the mayor about how much you adore him. You will get a letter back saying:

“Dear ___,
You have been chosen for my extra special job! You will be working as a ___ at ____
for ________ bells a day!
Mayor ____,”
